About Us – A Cooperative of Innovation, Stewardship & Community
OrganicFarmUK was founded in 2017 when soil-scientist Dr. Emily Carter and heirloom-seed steward James O’Leary saw the urgent need to protect Britain’s farmlands from degradation. Starting on a small chalk-downland holding, they pioneered cover-crop rotations, compost teas, and pollinator-friendly margins. Word spread, and today we unite over 120 certified-organic farms from the Highlands to the Isles of Scilly in a cooperative that shares resources, research, and markets.
Our central innovation hub partners with Rothamsted Research and the Organic Research Centre to trial novel mixtures of clover, vetch, and oats that build soil carbon, suppress weeds, and improve moisture retention by up to 30%. Drone imagery and soil-moisture probes deliver data-driven insights, while on-the-ground agronomists verify biodiversity metrics in hedgerows and wildflower strips. We host monthly “Farm Open Days” to teach cover-cropping, agroforestry, and seed-saving, and we fund scholarships for apprentices at Duchy College and Elmwood College.
Transparency is core to our values: each product bears a QR code linking to its farm origin, planting dates, and soil-health reports. From heritage wheat and spelt to free-range pork and pasture-raised eggs, everything meets UK Organic Regulation and Soil Association standards. OrganicFarmUK isn’t just a supplier—it’s a movement dedicated to cultivating resilience, community prosperity, and flavours that reflect true stewardship.
